Special Flyer & Sports Day: New Japanese Material
First up, a rare flyer from 1977. That year, Kyowa Film was exhibiting select episodes from the Little Lulu anime on 16mm film. This was showcased within libraries and public institutions, offering screenings of episodes 4, 6, and 19. It’s neat to know that the anime had some life in Japan after its initial broadcast. Perhaps the film reel from August 2020 was used by Kyowa Film? Maybe, maybe not...
Here’s another coloring book part of the “Seika’s Coloring” lineup. The front cover shows Lulu holding a bag of baguettes with Tubby eating ice-cream on the side.

New photos have appeared featuring Little Lulu in the popular Japanese magazine, Second Grader, which continues to run to this day. A single page manga was featured in a late 1977 issue, drawn by Sakae Saitō (斎藤栄). In the manga, Lulu appears to be doing chores, eventually forcing a cat to get out of her house. Tubby shows up as well.
Another image presents a variety of TV characters participating in Sports Day, an event that is held yearly at Japanese grade schools. The most notable character here is Doraemon, probably the only time you’ll see him and Little Lulu in the same picture. Anyone else you recognize?
Those were only the highlights! See these new additions up close and more on the Japanese section:

Special thanks to Dough(どーなつ) on Twitter, for explaining what was written on the rare flyer. Come back in 3 weeks, bye for now!
